PART 1: Sometimes when our weight fluctuates /doesn't respond to healthy choices it's good to try the following approaches separately. Which approach gets results helps you understand the nature of the problem. (KEEP YOUR EYE OUT FOR A FUTURE POST WHICH IS PART 2)
You will still need to eat clean, with plenty of water & moderate exercise every other day.
Solution 1: Intracellular Fluid
Remove any sources of refined salt from the diet, even iodized salts & packet food. Have a total of 1 tsp of Himalayan rock salt spread out through your meals daily
Do dry skin brushing before your shower daily
Juice 6 celery sticks and drink daily for 7 days
Drink 2 litres of spring water
Avoid all stimulants & caffeinated drinks (this may cause detox headaches from withdrawals)

Solution 2: Inflammation

Just 8h apart from my last session and with not the best sleep tonight.
The alarm clock went off. I got up and got back to bed. Told myself "fck it, I will go later"... And to be fair I'm sure I would have had a better session if I had gone later...But, again, busy day, responsibilities, you have to do what you have to do straight away before life gets in the way...
And so I did. Dark again. Cold. Drained. Sleepy. Unmotivated. Committed. Determined. Consistent. Focused.
I knew I couldn't lift heavy and I knew I couldn't go for crazy super-sets. So I did 4 exercises (plus calves) of 8 Sets each, Reps 12-10.

I am officially in the red zone. The five pounds of water weight I gained overnight has company to three more pounds. I am weighing in at 175. I am unbothered by it really. I ate things I shouldn't have and I am ok. Clearly I am processing something. My stomach has been too full at least 4 times this week..... it has been at least a year before that that I have let myself get sick over food. I am so swollen my bird ankles look like tree trunks. I'm disappointed but it happens. TODAYS THE DAY‼️ Today I begin my cut!! After thinking long and hard about whether or not I actually want to cut I finally made my decision and dropped my calories this morning ☀️ When you “cut” (lose fat) you need to be in a calorie deficit - burn more calories than you consume, so to get myself in a deficit, rather than dropping a whole lot I’m only going to drop them a little bit and increase my movement (burn more calories) that way I can still eat allllllll the foods 😻😻
My mindset this time around is hugely different - I feel confident in my skin, I feel strong and empowered, and I can eat without beating myself up 😭🥳
I’m excited to experiment further and see how my body changes!
I’m 8kg heavier than when I started but I’ve never felt better 💪🏼

I am happy with the level of consistency that I have maintained with my training and also diet in the last 4 weeks and I can feel a difference in my body ( I have lost about 7lbs also). Every week my two sessions with @rjpfitness are so enjoyable I come away feeling like I have achieved something. (dont get it twisted my body feels it after). I don't know why but I was ashamed to show this before?! Why...? I don't know. I had a terrible 2nd #pregnancy ...I was banned from exercising due to complications. I felt down and depressed. I also started a house extension and didn't have a kitchen for 2 months (which led to eating out constAntly 🙊) both of these aspects together led to a massive #weightgain 😭
My #postpartumjourney this time round was so much harder. I had 50lbs to lose!
I was in a rut and felt really #depressed about my body (as it was the heaviest I've ever been) I started small.
☑️MAKING MY WEIGHTLOSS MEALS - lbs started to shift from my change in diet alone! ☑️EXERCISE - consisted of big walks with my pram (in January it was freezing but I didn't let it stop me!) ☑️HOME WORKOUTS - I didn't start these until #7weekspostpartum (all workouts you can find in my website)
☑️SACRAFICE - i didn't do much eating out or drinking (I knew I had to miss out on things as I WANTED my body back more than anything) ☑️MOOD - as the #lbs shifted my mood and energy levels, I began to feel more confident and good about myself again! ☑️FOCUS - I used my time to get my WEBSITE finished and I'm so happy that I can share my #fatloss secrets with others and help shift those unwanted kg's. 21 things I’ve learnt in 21 years 🥂
Happy Thursday everyone💚 It was my 21st birthday on Tuesday, but may as well be celebrating for the entire month at this rate😂 not exactly a fitness post but wanted to share the 21 things I’ve learnt over 21 years 👋🏻
1. You don’t always have to react to every situation
2. It’s okay to say “no”
3. Not everyone is going to like you - and that’s okay 🤷🏻♀️
4. Put your health first
5. It’s okay to cut out toxic people from your life
6. It’s important to be open minded & allow new perspectives to develop
7. Be yourself 100% of the time and if someone doesn’t like it that’s their problem
8. Everything happens for a reason - it may not feel like it at the time but everything works out the way it’s supposed to🙋🏻♀️
9. Situations & circumstances change - don’t worry until you need too (still working on that😂)
10. Taking care of your body & mind is SO important 💚
11. It’s okay to not know exactly what you want to do with your life yet 🤷🏻♀️
12. Saving money is a must ✌🏼
13. It’s not weak to ask for help - don’t struggle when someone can help you
14. Not every friend you’ve made will stay in your life, and some will be friends for life
15. It’s important to take chances
16. Family are so important - don’t take them for granted
17. Grades/qualifications/exams do NOT define who you are as a person 🤷🏻♀️
18. If you’re going to use it pretty much everyday then it’s not a waste of money
19. Don’t always assume social media has all the answers - everyone uploads their highs and not their lows - you really have no clue what someone is going through.
20. Tell your loved ones “I love you” as much as you can
21. Say “yes” to trips and experiences that push you out of your comfort zone .
IT IS HARD to reflect on the weight you’ve gained during recovery from diet culture.
Diet Culture tells us weight gain is always bad. Always associated with neglecting our self care. Always a result of worsened health behaviors.
But we can challenge this false narrative with our EXPERIENCE.
Yes, I’ve gained weight. But I’ve also experienced MEANINGFUL GROWTH.
I’ve learned how to ask my body what it NEEDS more often.
I’ve learned to LISTEN more often to the feedback my body provides - about food, about movement, about it’s need for rest.
I’ve learned to find JOY more often and be more PRESENT in the things that matter most.
I’ve learned more about WHO I AM — which has allowed me to acknowledge my VALUE outside of my appearance.
Gaining weight during recovery from diet culture can be so damn hard.
It can feel vulnerable. It can feel like a failure. It can feel unbearable.
AND it can coincide with so much growth and evolution.

Not your typical #transformationtuesday post, I suppose.
But I think it's important to show that life isn't linear. My weight changes with the seasons of my life -- with new jobs and new cities and new training and new goals. These past couple of weeks post half ironman have been full of rest and plenty of food, and my body has changed as a result.
I'd be lying if I said I was SUPER thrilled with what I see on the right. But I can tell you that three years ago, seeing my body on the right would have sent me down an anxiety spiral of death. Cue the diets and the no-thank-you-i'm-not-hungry and the impulsive exercising and the mood swings.😭 If you find yourself there, trust me when I say you're not alone.
But today I'm doing a gratitude journal to remind myself WHY our bodies are so special, regardless of what it might look like or feel like at a single point in time.🙏 Zoom out, don't just focus on weight or muscle definition or diet or one thing.
