After traveling for hundreds of kilometres, @ankur_moitra@dryashphotography and I reached a point at Little Rann of Kutch where the sun had set and the stars were visible. This dusky evening had been great for Peregrine Falcons and some Eagles but we were soon going to hit the jackpot.
We came across this patch of Desert where dozens of Harriers were sitting on the ground and awaiting absolute darkness.
We got down from our vehicle, crawled for some 10m and then started shooting this beautiful male Montague's Harrier which was in breeding plumage. Used a higher f-stop of 11 and shutterspeed of 1/4 to get this light.
And... here we go! Off to the airport and on to Photograph these Beauties!
This is a shot I took in early Feb. 2019.
This time I hope to Photograph them on the Drift Ice, northern Hokkaido is the most southern point in the world that drift ice visits, blown in by the Northern winds.
Last year I was a little over anxious and arrived a week to early which lead to the Ice arriving on the day I departed, not that it dissatisfied my shutter finger as I was afforded some incredible shots of the eagles. (Please scroll down my feed if you would like to see them.)
This time I believe I have timed it just right and fingers crossed I will be graced with fine weather and plenty of feathers to point my camera at as these impressive birds take to the ice.
Wish me luck. 😊
