A menu of new dining and drinking options is hitting downtown Winnipeg as True North's new Hargrave St. Market opens Friday. 🍔🌮🍻
Local vendor and restaurateur Bobby Mottola is thrilled the market is ready to open to the public.
"It is so unique. Every operator in the building is bringing something they are really, really good at," said Mottola. "When you take a look around and see the fit and finish and the attention to detail that the landlord and other partners have put into place here, it is really quite something."
The list of tenants in the multi-million 30,000 square foot market includes:
🔹 Lake of the Woods Brewing Company
🔹 Gusto North
🔹 Yard Burger
🔹 The Good Fight Taco
🔹 Rose Bar
🔹 Saburo Kitchen
🔹 Miss Browns
🔹 Fools and Horses
🔹 Mottola Grocery

"Maybe it's me, the only Black girl in too many rooms, asked to be an avatar, a metaphor, a megaphone, to speak when spoken to and then never for myself, to open my mouth and unfurl the whole brown world, like a late summer fiddlehead." Winnipeg spoken word poet, Chimwemwe Undi, explores the weight of being the representative black person in too many rooms.
Chimwemwe shared her story as part of our #speakingmytruthcbc series where we asked Winnipeggers to write a personal essay, poem, or story about an experience with racism.
