“Life is like the baseball season, where even the best team loses at least a third of its games, and even the worst team has its days of brilliance. The goal is not to win every game but to win more than you lose, and if you do that often enough, in the end you may find you have won it all.” — Anonymous

IT’S OFFICIAL! For the first time since 2012, the Yankees have won the American League East! They take the series from Anaheim for win number 💯 and continue their stretch of now 22 straight home series’ without a series loss since early April.
Masahiro Tanaka was DOMINANT. Surely an excellent sign for him as October draws near. He shut down the Halo’s through seven. Tanaka’s line: 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K.
The Bombers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the second when DJ LeMahieu belted a 3-run shot to right (25) in the first. HR shoutout: @davidsolazzo
In the fourth, Brett Gardner continued his power tear with a solo shot (26) to make it 4-0. That wasn’t all for Brett, as he’d add a 2-run single in the sixth to make it a much easier game.
Maybin smacked an absolute BOMB (9) with two outs in the eighth to make it 7-1. A Gardy walk later, Clint Frazier belted a 2-run rocket down the left field line (12) for the knockout punch.
It was an 8 hit attack for the Bombers tonight. Didi had 2, while Gardner went 2/3 with a HR, 3 RBI, 3 runs scored and a walk.
As for the pen, Gearrin and Chapman tossed a scoreless inning apiece to close off the game. Chapman’s bell was at peak performance, as he even dialed it up to 103 MPH. Pen lines:
Gearrin: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
Chapman: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Time to celebrate! This is just the beginning of a long journey into October and hopefully November. It’s important to enjoy the ride, but we all know what the real goal is. Buckle up. In the meantime, the Yanks will focus on securing home field advantage throughout the playoffs. This won’t be an easy task, as they currently trail Houston (who owns the tiebreaker) by a half game.
The Blue Jays come to town tomorrow for three in the final home series of the regular season. Expect the hangover lineup after tonight’s celebration. Keep it going! #LetsGoYankees
