A few weeks ago, I joined thousands of others gathered here in Amiskwaciwâskahikan on Treaty 6 territory to demand climate action.
One of the most beautiful moments was when my constituent, 7-year-old Blair Armstrong-Tucker stood at the mic.
Blair spoke about climate change and how important it is that everyone act, and not just young people. I was honoured that Blair joined me at the Legislature today.
Kids like Blair are worried about this climate crisis and are demanding that governments act.
But in the absence of adult leadership and responsiveness, young people are taking this on.
We see the local work of Blair and climate justice activists, we see Indigenous water warrior @autumn.peltier, and, we see @gretathunberg mobilizing millions to demand action.
Greta’s in Alberta now, and she’ll be in Edmonton tomorrow.
So the kids are leading, while many adults do very little.
Some minimize the importance of the issue.
Some full out deny the existence of climate change and that we are indeed facing a climate crisis.
And, some even mock.
And while this government might not care to act on climate change, might not think the demands of thousands of Albertans matter, and might not believe that young people should have a voice, young people like Blair and Greta are going to keep pushing on this issue.
I couldn’t be prouder of Blair, and of every young person out there who’s standing bravely to say that we cannot wait to act on climate change.
We’re running out of time. Our houses are on fire.
So let’s have the maturity and the foresight to think about the world we’re leaving for our kids’ kids.

Set your goals, and break them. Do it all over again.
Being 19 years old, co-operating a family business building luxurious homes in the Calgary area, I knew I wanted to do something similar. I set out and learned everything I could about real estate and still am to this day. Now I get to help find their dream homes.
So long story short, feel free to get in touch with me if you’re looking to buy/sell, investing, or curious to know facts on what’s happening lately in the market.
Millions of students across the globe have been striking on Fridays to demand action on the climate crisis from all levels of government and civil society.
The international Fridays for Future movement, sparked by Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg’s one-person protest, has gained widespread support from youth across the country and around the world. Here in the heart of oil country, young people are at the forefront of fighting for a liveable future.
And long before that, young Indigenous people from communities severely affected by climate and ecological breakdown have been courageously speaking up, like Autumn Peltier from Wikwemikong Unceded Territory, who started advocating for safe drinking water and clean waterways in 2013 at the age of eight. She addressed the UN General Assembly last year at age 13 and, earlier this year, was named chief water commissioner by Anishinabek Nation.
On Friday, October 18th, people of all ages from across Treaty 6, 7, and 8 territory will join together with Greta Thunberg in-person to fight for a future that:
1) RESPECTS CLIMATE SCIENCE;
2) UPHOLDS INDIGENOUS RIGHTS AND SOVEREIGNTY;
3) CREATES MILLIONS OF GOOD JOBS; AND
4) ENSHRINES DIGNITY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.
As young people, we know the future we deserve and we're ready to build it.
Fact: your house can’t 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 smell like freshly baked cookies (I should know, I bought these at 7-11 😂).
So, when I don’t have time to put on the apron and become Martha Stewart, I use Febreeze to create alllll those warm and welcoming good vibes to make my house smell fresh, but never overpowering 🥰 *sponsored ad
